We remain steadfastly true to our core values, which are reliability and integrity.
Which Two-Way Radio Should I Choose?
Choosing the correct two-way radio can make all the difference in the world, so it is important that you consider four basic points:
1. VHF or UHF: VHF radio waves travel roughly twice the distance of UHF waves over open ground. However, VHF waves do not easily penetrate walls and buildings. If you are planning to use two-way radios mostly indoors, UHF would be your best choice.
2. Power: If you intend to use the radios in the same building, or within 2km outdoors, then a 1 watt radio would be sufficient. For distances over 6km, there are 4 or 5 watt radios available but there is a distance limitation where your only option would be to use a repeater.
3. Channels: If your group will be communicating on the same channel no matter how many radios you have, then you will only need a 1 channel radio. If you plan to communicate with two groups and want to communicate with each group independently and still be able to switch between the two, then you need a 2 channel capable radio system.
4. Durability: Radio units can vary from those intended for light use in a hotel or control room to heavy military operations. Be sure to choose a radio system that best suits the environment in which you will be using it.
